Gatineau Commercial Parking Lots That Drain and Last

Parking surfaces take constant vehicle loads, shed water off the site, and must stay operational while you pour them. Gatineau Concrete builds new parking slabs on engineered bases, repairs lots failing from poor drainage or base failure, constructs multi-level parking structures, and installs curb and gutter systems. Every project is phased to keep your business running, and every estimate is free and in writing.

  • Engineered base for vehicle loads
  • Graded to shed water off the site
  • Phased work keeps your lot open

Foundation first

How Parking Lot Drainage Prevents Cracking and Failure

Most parking lots fail not from traffic alone, but from water trapped beneath the slab. When a lot is not graded to shed water, moisture accumulates under the concrete, freeze-thaw cycles crack it, and the base deteriorates. The fix starts before the pour.

We survey the site and set grades so water runs off, not toward your building. The sub-base is compacted to carry the loads your vehicles impose, and the slab is jointed so any cracking happens in the joint, not randomly across the surface. Parking lot concrete built this way stays sound for decades.

When an existing lot is failing from poor drainage, we address the root cause. Curb and gutter channels runoff and protects the edges. For multi-level sites, a parking structure requires ramps and decks engineered to work as one system. All our commercial concrete work follows the same principle: build the foundation right, and the surface lasts.

The sequence

Pouring a Commercial Parking Lot in Phases

  1. Site assessment and grading plan

We measure the site, determine where water needs to go, and plan the pour in phases so your lot stays accessible to customers and deliveries.

  2. Base preparation and forming

The sub-base is excavated, compacted to specification, and forms are set to the slab thickness and joint pattern required for your traffic loads.

  3. Concrete placement and finishing

Each phase is poured, finished to the specified texture, and control joints are saw-cut on layout so the slab cracks in the joint if it cracks at all.

  4. Curing and phased reopening

Sections cure and are handed back with a date they can carry traffic, so the next phase can be poured while earlier sections are already in use.

Complete solutions

Parking Structures, Curb & Gutter, and Repair

A parking project often extends beyond the flat lot. Curb and gutter is the most common addition, defining the lot edge, protecting the slab from vehicle damage, and channeling runoff to storm drains.

Tight sites or high-density needs call for a parking structure with ramps, decks and load ratings all engineered together. We pour to the structural engineer's drawings and coordinate with other trades so the work stays on schedule. When an existing lot is cracking, ponding or spalling, we diagnose whether the issue is base failure, poor drainage, or both, and repair the cause, not just the surface.

Common questions

Parking Lot Questions, Answered

Drainage, scheduling, repair and what parking concrete involves in Gatineau.

Yes. We phase the pour so sections of the lot stay open while others cure, and schedule the work around your hours. We map the phasing with you before the first pour so customers and deliveries always have access.
Almost always grading and base. A lot that was not graded to drain holds water, and water plus traffic plus freeze-thaw cracks it. Parking lot repair fixes the base and drainage cause, not just the surface.
Concrete costs more up front and lasts far longer with less maintenance, holds up better to heavy and turning loads, and does not soften in summer heat. We will give you a straight comparison for your site on the estimate.
Yes. Curb and gutter is the most common add-on to any parking pour, it defines the lot, protects the edges and channels runoff, and we form and pour it as part of the project.
Yes. A parking structure has ramps, decks and load ratings that have to be engineered together. We pour to the structural drawings and coordinate with the other trades on site.

Repoured the whole customer lot in phases over two weekends. We never lost parking on a business day and the new lot finally drains instead of ponding.

Our old lot was cracking everywhere. They showed us it was a base and drainage problem and fixed the cause, not just the surface. Holding up well.

Added curb and gutter when they repoured our front lot. Edges are protected, runoff goes where it should, and the whole thing looks sharp.

Poured to our engineer's drawings and coordinated with the other trades without us having to babysit it. Clean, on-schedule work.
