Gatineau Warehouse Concrete Floors Built for the Load

Racking posts, loaded pallets, reach trucks crossing joints all shift long. Your warehouse floor needs a slab engineered to the weight, joints that hold up under hard wheels, and a finish that seals against spills. Gatineau Concrete sizes the reinforcement, fills the joints, and coats the surface so the floor lasts.

  • Slab thickness matched to racking load
  • Joints filled to stop edge chipping
  • Repair phased around your operations

Load-rated design

How Warehouse Concrete Floors Differ from Standard Slabs

A warehouse floor is not a parking lot. The load is concentrated (racking posts, pallet stacks), the traffic is repetitive (same aisles, same joints), and the wear is visible within months if the slab was not engineered for it. Spalling at joints, surface dusting, and cracks in the slab all trace back to undersizing.

We start with your racking spec, forklift class, and pallet weight, then size the slab thickness and reinforcement to carry it. Warehouse floor coating goes over a prepped, ground surface so it bonds and seals. For higher impact and chemical exposure, forklift-rated epoxy flooring is the upgrade that handles constant hard-wheel traffic.

The joints are where most warehouses fail. Concrete joint filling with a semi-rigid filler supports the edges so the slab carries the load, not the joint. When damage occurs, warehouse floor repair is phased bay by bay so your operation keeps running.

The sequence

Building a Warehouse Floor from Spec to Handoff

  1. Review the load spec

We collect your racking layout, forklift class, pallet weight, and any existing floor data, then calculate the slab thickness and reinforcement needed.

  2. Prepare base and set rebar

Base is compacted, reinforcement is placed to spec, and the concrete mix is confirmed for the load. For existing slabs, we grind and prep the surface for coating.

  3. Place and finish the slab

We laser-screed to your flatness spec (FF/FL), saw-cut joints on the layout, and finish to the specified surface. Readings are provided for your records.

  4. Fill joints and apply coating

Joints are filled with semi-rigid filler, edges are detailed, and any coating system is applied to manufacturer spec. The floor is handed back ready for racking.

The weak point

Joint Filling and Repair Stop Warehouse Floor Failure

Warehouse floors fail at the joints first. A saw-cut joint that is never filled has an exposed concrete edge, and every hard-wheel forklift that crosses it chips away at that edge until you have a spall that spreads.

Concrete joint filling with a semi-rigid filler supports those edges so the slab carries the forklift load, not the joint. When spalling or cracking has already started, warehouse floor repair grinds out the damage, patches it, and re-fills the joint, often bay by bay so the building stays operational.

A sealed surface adds another layer of protection. Warehouse floor coating or forklift-rated epoxy creates a chemical and impact barrier, reduces dusting, and makes line-marking and cleaning easier. The system you choose depends on the load and use.

Common questions

Warehouse Concrete Floor Questions, Answered

Load ratings, joint filling, coatings and repair for warehouse floors in Gatineau.

Because a saw-cut joint has an exposed concrete edge, and every hard-wheel forklift crossing it chips at that edge. Concrete joint filling with a semi-rigid filler supports the edges so the floor carries the forklift, not the joint.
Forklift-rated epoxy flooring is a heavy-duty coating system built for impact, chemical exposure and constant hard-wheel traffic. It is the step up from a basic warehouse coating where the load and use justify it.
Usually, yes. Warehouse floor repair is phased bay by bay or off-shift so racking and operations keep moving while one area cures. We map the phasing with you before starting.
Yes. We laser-screed to the flatness and levelness numbers in the spec and can provide the readings. Flat is what keeps a reach truck running smooth across every joint.
Bare concrete dusts, stains and wears under traffic. Floor coating seals it, gives a chemical and impact barrier, and makes the floor easier to clean and line-mark. The level of system depends on the load.

★★★★★

New slab poured to our FF spec and joint-filled before racking went in. A year of forklifts later not a spalled edge anywhere.

Forklift-rated epoxy across the whole floor. Takes the hard wheels and a chemical spill, and our line marking actually stays sharp.

★★★★★

Bay-by-bay repair on a tired warehouse floor. They worked off-shift so racking never came out and the building stayed full while we fixed it.

Joint filling on every aisle. The chipping at the joint edges stopped immediately and the reach trucks run smooth across them.
