Mapei Concrete Systems Built for Gatineau Renovations

When a floor needs to be flat, sealed and finished in one coordinated pour, Mapei is the system we reach for. Self-leveling underlayments, waterproofing membranes and repair mortars all engineered to bond together, no mixing brands mid-job. Gatineau Concrete installs Mapei concrete systems to the published spec, keeping the warranty intact and the finish predictable. Call for a free written estimate.

The Mapei approach

How Mapei Concrete Systems Solve Renovation Floors

A renovation floor starts with a slab that is rarely flat. Mapei Ultraplan and Novoplan self-leveling underlayments pour to a dead-flat finish that takes tile, vinyl plank or any high-end surface without shimming or telegraphing the substrate below.

When moisture is a concern, Mapei waterproofing membranes bond directly into the leveler and into the adhesive above, creating a continuous moisture barrier instead of separate layers that can fail at the seams. For patched or damaged concrete, Mapei repair mortars restore the slab to performance spec before the leveler goes down.

The key is chemistry compatibility. Every Mapei product is formulated to bond to the Mapei product above and below it, which is why we pair Mapei levelers with Mapei primers and Mapei adhesives. That same discipline guides our work with Sika and Ardex systems.

Installation sequence

How We Sequence Mapei Concrete in Gatineau

  1. Assess the slab and pick the Mapei line

We measure moisture, check for cracks and damage, and confirm the finish that will sit on top. That determines which Mapei products go into the spec.

  2. Mechanically profile and prime

The concrete slab is ground or shot-blasted to the profile Mapei calls for, moisture-tested, and primed with the Mapei primer matched to that product line.

  3. Mix, pour and finish the Mapei body

The self-leveling compound is mixed to the published water ratio, poured to the thickness the spec requires, and finished at the temperature Mapei specifies.

  4. Document cure and hand off

The slab cures on Mapei's schedule. We photograph the finished surface, keep the data sheets, and provide documentation so the next trade knows what they are bonding to.

System thinking

Why Mapei Concrete Beats Mixing Brands

Every layer boundary in a floor is a potential failure point. When primer does not bond to leveler, or leveler does not bond to adhesive, the finish fails even if each product is good on its own. Mapei removes that risk by engineering every product to bond to the next.

That is why we install Mapei waterproofing into Mapei thinset, and why Mapei repair is paired with Mapei primers. The same logic applies to our BASF and Laticrete installs. One product family means one warranty, one technical support line, and no finger-pointing when something goes wrong.

Common questions

Mapei Concrete Questions, Answered

Self-leveling, waterproofing, system compatibility and what Mapei does best in Gatineau.

Mapei Ultraplan and Novoplan are tested, predictable products with deep installer support. They pour to a flat, sound surface that takes a finish without telegraphing the slab below, which is exactly what a renovation needs.
Yes, that is one of its strengths. Mapei waterproofing membranes are designed to bond into Mapei thinset and tile adhesives, so the wet-area floor is one continuous system instead of a stack of unrelated layers.
Because every layer boundary is a place where bond failure can happen. Using a single product family means primer, leveler, waterproofing and adhesive are engineered to work together, removing the surprise bond issues.
Yes, when prep is done right. Mapei repair and adhesive products bond patched and existing concrete back to performance spec when the substrate is mechanically profiled and primed correctly.
Yes. We install the published Mapei system, primer, body, finish, in the correct sequence and at the temperature and mix ratio the spec calls for, so the product warranty stays intact.
